Hexagon’s professional staff is experienced in all technical aspects of transportation consulting and highly proficient in state-of-the-art computer software including all major modeling packages, traffic simulation software, intersection level of service programs, advanced traffic operations programs, CADD programs and many specialized programs that process and analyze traffic data.   • GARY BLACK, AICP

    President - San Jose

    Gary is one of the founders of Hexagon and has worked in the transportation sector since 1982. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Gary graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Geography, before returning to earn his Masters in Urban Planning from UC Berkeley. In addition to his responsibilities as President, Gary specializes in General Plans, area-wide plans, traffic studies for new developments, corridor studies, and parking studies. Outside of work, Gary enjoys playing trombone and racing cars. Email Gary

    Vice President, Principal - San Jose

    At is one of Hexagon's founding partners. He grew up in the Netherlands where he earned a B.S. in Traffic and Transportation Engineering from the Nationale Verkeers Akademie in Tilburg. He came to the United States in 1986 and has since worked as a transportation consultant in the Bay Area. He has experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning with an emphasis on travel demand forecasting.   • BRETT WALINSKI, TE

    Vice President, CFO, Principal - Pleasanton

    Brett is one of Hexagon's original six founders. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State, and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He is also the manager of Hexagon's Pleasanton office. Working in consulting since 1996, Brett has expertise in a wide variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering practice areas. When away from work and not functioning as "soccer dad" for his two young children, Brett's interests are in finance, economics, and golf (or any sporting activity). Email Brett

    Vice President, Principal - San Jose

    Michelle has been with Hexagon since 1998 and holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research. Michelle's work focuses on traffic simulation, areawide circulation plans, and transportation demand management programs. When not working, she is playing with her dogs, hiking, and engaging in musical theater. Email Michelle

  • JEFF ELIA, PE

    Vice President, Principal - Gilroy

    Jeff joined Hexagon in 1998 and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State. He began his career working on traffic study projects throughout Northern California. In 2005, Jeff took over as Hexagon's Design Manager. He now spends most of his time on traffic engineering design projects, with occasional involvement in traffic studies throughout the Bay Area. When not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, playing ice hockey, watching NHL hockey (Go Pens!), working on home improvement projects, and backpacking in the Sierras. Email Jeff

  • ROBERT DEL RIO, TE

    Vice President, Principal - Gilroy

    Robert has been with Hexagon since 1998 and manages Hexagon's Gilroy office. He is a licensed Traffic Engineer in the State of California and obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University in 1997. For nearly 23 years, Mr. Del Rio has worked on and managed a wide range of transportation planning and operations studies throughout the Bay Area, with an emphasis on traffic impact studies, area-wide master plans, and traffic analyses. Outside of the office, Robert is an avid baseball fan and loves coaching and watching his two sons' little league games. Email Robert

    Vice President, Principal - San Jose

    Ollie has been working at Hexagon since 2014 after earning his B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from US Berkeley. Travel Demand Modeling is one of Ollie’s primary focuses at work. Outside of work, he follows the Warriors, Celtics, and Canucks, and he enjoys traveling. Email Ollie

    Trisha is a Principal with Hexagon. Trisha has extensive experience with the preparation of traffic impact studies, traffic modeling, and traffic signal improvements, utilizing the latest in traffic operations/simulation technologies (Synchro, SimTraffic, Traffix, etc.). Email Trisha

    Annette has worked as an office services manager with Hexagon since 2013. She specializes in billing, collections, and managing Hexagon's traffic count vendors. When away from work, Annette enjoys fine wine and spending time with family. Email Annette

    Senior Associate - San Jose

    Since 1998, Brian has managed and prepared a variety of traffic impact studies and parking studies throughout Northern California. Brian grew up in the Bay Area and holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University.     Associate - Pleasanton

    Eric joined the Hexagon team in 2014. His experience includes transportation analyses for environmental impact reports, site access and circulation studies, traffic signal design, and stage construction traffic control design. Eric holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley and a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo. In his spare time, Eric likes to go cycling with friends on the SF Bay Trails and is a member of his church choir. Email Eric

Kai-Ling focuses her work on transportation impact studies that integrate trip generation surveys, travel demand forecasting, or traffic simulation.     Tim joined the Hexagon staff in 2017. Tim completed his B.S. in chemical Engineering at San Jose State in 2015, but switched over to the traffic engineering dark side when he started working at Hexagon.
